By chance just came across this outstanding site. The author, Paul Meagher, writes for IBM developerworks and while doing so, has put together an excellent collection of mathematical classes.
Finally got time to read IBM’s Take Web data analysis to the next level with PHP which is a high powered study of “mining” your web data, which work very nicely with phpOpenTracker.
Anyway, reaching the resources, hit the The PHP Math Library Project, which has some truly fascinating code to study.
Believe it or not, the fractal image below was generated purely by PHP(!).
[Update 20th Aug: The author of the fractal class is actually Bartek Matosiuk, PHP Math Lib having a number of contributors]
What’s even more amazing is it took less than 3 seconds to render (OK - just kidding - once the script starts you’ve got time to put the kettle on).
Also nice is the site’s “filemanager”, which looks to me like a great place to start build a “PHP CVS” (now there’s a thought).
